I'm considering getting a MBP at the moment. I wonder if anyone knows if you get one at this point are you likely to get a free upgrade to Leopard when (if?) it comes out this month?

I may not be able to put off waiting till Leopard comes out is my main problem here.

Any info on what the likelihood of getting a free upgrade would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Dont think there is much chance. Cant say for sure, but I just got two Mac Pro's in work and they came with no mention of a free upgrade. We'll just buy the upgrades if needed so it doesnt matter to me, though I do have the issue of having to pay to upgrade my home machine :(

Well, you can always buy a family-license pack (for 3 or 5 machines, I forget which). If the price doesn't change, that's 199e instead of 3x129e (Microsoft, are you taking notes?)

Sales person in the Apple Store in Las Vegas told me there was nothing in place to get a free or discounted copy of Leopard if it came out in the next few weeks althought I'm sure they used to do a 30 day discount thing in the past.
After myself and a friend spent nearly $3000 there I was a bit disappointed.

ah well.... and to think, some folks would suggest other ways of getting it!

Cheers for the info folks. I thought they might do something similar to what they did in the past with the free upgrade if you are within a certain time period. It doesn't sound like it though.

A shame but it looks like its a dell for me and a dual boot of ubuntu and xp (if they will even sell me xp anymore).

I was on the phone today with an apple rep in America and they told me that the only way to get leopard is to wait. He knew about the idea of coupons etc. but he said that they were not informed of such offers..."Yet"?
