ok here is the deal. i just bought a PS3 and i have a HDTV and have been blown away by some games. the problem is its a low end HDTV and the audio is ****. I want to get the most out of my new toy so can someone recommend a cheap-ish option for some kind of surround sound system with the likes of dolby digital

tbh i use HDMI for video and the normal cables (whatever they're called) for audio direct into my stereo.

though recently i got new headphones, so i plug direct into my headphones and it sounds even more stunning... gwan the sennheiser etc.

what connection do you use for that. the back of the ps3 only has hdmi out, scart/av out and optical out as far as i know.

[edit]never mind figured out a way. had an adapter for my ps2 that allowed me to plugin headhones so i used that to plug some speakers into the scart socket on the ps3. sounds awesome now, thanks for the suggestion

i have something similar to this.. http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=303911 but older, not 7.1, waiting to see if anything comes to the forefont as regards a recommended sound system for the PS3

I've a JVC TH-S8 Home cinema surround system with Dolby and dts 5.1. Any dvd soundsystem should have an optical input. Just make sure the wattage is high enough for decent clarity (300w minimum!)

Just connected my PS3 to the tv, I'm connected through HDMI.

I can't get any sound, I'm completely clueless.
