Probate/ Inland revenue question

    Hey

I am just about to apply for a grant of administration on my fathers estate who died without leaving a will.

I have filled in all the forms and gathered all nessessary documentation to apply for letters of administration. I have also filled in the Inland revenue form and gathered all nessessary documentation.

My question is this: Can I send both of these off at the same time, or do I send one off before the other. I had it in my head that I apply for the letters of administration first and then Inland revenue but Ive no idea where I got this from!

For what its worth the beneficiaries of the estate will not be paying any tax as it is below the taxable inheritance figure, so the inland revenue is just a formality.

    Thanks

send inland revenue affidavit first. get it back, and it's stamped by revenue. only then is it acceptable by the probate office...

I,ve done this twice before , I contacted the Probate office, regarding a personal Representation, who in turn issued forms for completion. i returned these and fairly soon got an appointment, they were extremely helpful and went throught the various forms, when they were happy with all details, the form was stamped in the probate office and then I brought the relevant forms to the Castle and these were stamped by Revenue. Brought these back to Probate office and some weeks later got Grant of Probate in the post. Have to say the staff in Probate office could not have been more helpful.

The tooing and froing from Probate office to Castle and back was all completed in a morning.
Just remembered, slightly diffferent, my parents left wills, and it was Grant of Probate I was seeking.

    Yours

    Secman

Ok, so if I send off the completed letters of administration form to the probate office now, they say it will be a few weeks before I will get an appointment.

Could I then sort out the inland revenue affidavit while I'm waiting? I think I just have to bring it stamped with me to the probate office when I get an appointment, and not actually send it together with the letters of administration application. Is this correct?

    Thanks for your help guys
