Split Link?

I'm sticking new chain and sprockets on my fazer and don't like the idea of messing around tryng to clamp up a softlink - I never feel fully confident doing this. What do people think about putting a split link in a new chain on a 600cc bike? (it came in the kit)

I read somewhere it is quite dangerous to put one on a bike that is too big for it but I can't imagine they would put the wrong chain in a kit. Maybe give the dealer a shout.

Don't do it! The bike needs a riveted link due to the power. The split link is fine for smaller bikes but could come off on a fazer. It's just not worth it.

Yeh I'd always heard the same myself but as already said...if the manufacturers provide the split link in the kit...

Alwys a fiddly job but I'll probably just do the usual and use the soft link.

The chain maker doesn't know what machine the chain is being used on. It could be a motocross, 125 etc. If the bike came with a riveted chain keep it that way and yes I know it's a pain in the arse.
