Keeping EXIF data when converting from RAW to JPG in Photoshop

    Hi all,

Does anyone know of a way of keeping the EXIF data from your RAW files when converting them over into JPG format? Every time I do so, my new JPGs don't retain any of the data from their RAW originals.

I'm using CS2 and using Camera Raw before converting over to JPG if that makes a difference. I've also tried the Nikon NEF plug-in (shooting on a Nikon D50 here), which is more useless than Camera Raw in the greater scheme of things and also doesn't retain any EXIF data when converting over to JPG.

Anyone got any ideas what I might be doing wrong? Do I possibly need to use a different RAW plug-in in CS2?

Do I have to explain myself a little bit more clearly before anyone can help me with this? :)

    Thanks.

Strange, its keeps it for me...
maybe there's a setting your missing.
Do you batch save them directly from the RAW converter or bring them into PS first?

Are you using the save to web option for JPG? as this will strip the EXIF data. For JPG's just use the save as option.

If only I'd done just a little bit more clicking, I would have found out sooner... :o

When opening RAW files with the Camera Raw plug-in, there's an option to save the file before going into PS proper. From there you can save as a JPG and that keeps the EXIF data.

    Thanks for the replies though.

@ DarrenG - Yes I was using the "Save As..." dialogue by the way.
