Dollars for good Ideas for Poker website

I'm going to be starting a poker information website with a couple of other guys.

I have some rough ideas on what I want to do with it already. The main theme is going to be to do with the word best. So roughly it might cover best poker books, best poker websites, best casinos, best lines of play etc etc.

I'm sure many of you look at different poker information sites. Is there anything in particular you like or is there stuff you'd like to see that isn't well covered.

I'll give $100 to the best idea or if I like more than one I'll split it between the ones I like.

I'd love to see a site reviewing poker rooms in Ireland. As someone who plays all of their poker online, I'd love to find a site which rates the live games in Dublin and other Irish city's poker rooms.

Detailing what games are played, what the field is like, and what are the best nights to go.

I couldn't find anything like this when i looked for it before.

A few sites have best bonsus and things like that already. Is it going to be targetting Irish players or International?

Best: players, tournaments, cash games etc.

Poker-king.com is one site I like it takes a slightly different angle to reporting and concerntrates only on the only players. There is a million sites that cover live poker but only a handfull that specialise in online player and 90% of the poker played these days is played online. Its clearly a site written by players for players instead of by writers for players.

Live updates are fantastic but, I would imagine, a pretty big drain on resources. A weekly review and anaylisis on Pokerstars High Stakes showdown would be interesting as well I can't seem to find out whoever won that on Sunday let alone how!

Well-written, innovative, thought-provoking and interesting, that's all I ever care about when I read something. If it's an information website, the key word is 'why', so once it's explained why certain poker plays are good or bad, why some sites are better than others, etc, I will be an avid reader :)

I don't live in Ireland for a while now so I know very little of the live poker scene back home. Still I'd like the website to cover some of the aspects of poker in Ireland maybe featuring some of the better cardrooms around the country, though as I say someone else would have to cover that.

It's aimed at International players, but stuff of particular interest to Irish players and Boardies in particular is an important consideration also for me.

Yeah not bad ideas but for me it would be biting off more than I can chew. My aim is to have the site covering a few niche areas but doing it well.

This really is what my aim is for the website to be about.

I'd like to see a rundown/ranking system for all/most of the online sites/skins. A list of their major pros, cons, what's annoying about them, what's a breath of fresh air, why you should/not play there, with maybe an overall rank for the site. If it was user generated, an unbiased opinion of all the major sites would iron itself out over the long term.

Having re-read that, i think it might not sit too well with certain sites who'd be at the bottom of the table so to speak. Sort of like a certain Major Corporation who took a dislike to boarDs.

This was one of my first intentions with the site. I doubt if commenting on a site's cons would land me in trouble, as I've noticed this done elsewhere on the internet, especially if I mention their pros also. Mind you some of the things I'd like to say about one site in particular might not be welcome.

I like to see full lists with rankings e.g. a full list of Irish cards rooms rated by players on a 1 to 10 scale. To prevent card rooms top-rating their own rooms you could ask regular players to do the ranking.

Linked to each card rooms would be a list of their regular games, with these ranked also.

You could also rate cards, chips, food, parking, bus service, dealers (not individually).

I like waffle-free text (as mentioned above by another poster). Keep re-writing the text to eliminate unnecessary words. And use a spell-checker.

I know this sort of stuff is of interest to Irish players. As I mentioned earlier though, I don't even live in Ireland anymore, so I'd have to get someone else to cover this, if I were to have this sort of stuff on the site. It might be best in my site's case, to simply have articles on the Irish Poker scene which would cover the better poker rooms. Also the level of detail you mention is probably going too into depth into an area where I'm not at all familiar with. My intention is primarily to cover online poker as this is the area I'm most familiar with.

Thanks, but I can't see anywhere there how they work out the ranking system. It just looks like a review done by the webmaster/owner of pokerlistings. I reckon it would carry a lot more authenticity and sway if there was an option for any visitors/members to rate each particular site on all the areas/qualities mentioned there:

    Software & Graphics
    Ring Game Traffic
    Tournament Traffic
    Game Variety
    Rake
    Soft Competition
    Sign-Up Bonus
    Loyalty Bonus
    Promotions
    Support
    Financial Security
    Deposit & Withdrawal Options

and maybe even a few others like:

    Added value tournaments
% of people @ each level of stakes
    Riggedness of the RNG ;)

Or a check list of things that other players might be on the look out for such as:

    Resizable tables
    Easy buddy/fish system
    P2P transfer etc.

    Just a thought.
