Have been looking around Dublin for a decent SW radio but cant find any.

I was going to get a DAB radio but their doesnt seem to be any decent stations on them (lots of RTE stuff but no BBC stations).

should I take the plunge and get an internet radio and, if I do, will I get BBC R4, R5 and R7??

Very happy with it... Logik IR100... cost was about 125 quid in Currys/Dixons which I thought was very reasonable, plus it's an alarm clock which can be set to come on with any station...

The device has access to thousands of stations, which can be searched by genre/region in the display - you can find the same list here

Ireland has 117 stations (national/regional/local/airport, etc.) and you can program any 5 stations for quick access... if you listen to UK stations, you're in luck... there are 1139 to choose from! 4336 US stations and counting...

Also, a nice feature is that when you turn it on and it connects to your wireless network, it auto-updates the station listing so you get the very latest (growing) list of stations covered. Sound quality is excellent too with the speaker in it...

    Hope this helps,
    B.

And the same radio (Logik IR100) is now available in Currys and Dixons in Northern Ireland for £39stg. Of course, this is only helpful if you are near NI, or know somebody who is.

After being informed of this cheap price (thanks DMC), I hope to get one this weekend.

Wow. Am very impressed by that list - though there could be too many stations. Certainly the fact that is 40 quid up north is very appealing. Thanks to you both.

I had a look at the Dixons website for the UK, and this is seemingly now £79.99 :(

I had a look at the specs, and it only has 5 presets, is this right?

Can anyone recommend a similar product, with more presets, I don't mind if I have to go to NI to get it either.

    Thanks.

Oh, I found this youtube video of a guy demonstrating the thing, I'm impressed.

Still £39.99 on the PC World and Currys websites, although stock is now limited across the North. There is a stock checker on their sites.

Do note that Dixons in the UK is now an online only brand, what used to be Dixons shops in the UK are now Currys.digital.... The Dixons brand still exist in shops in the Republic, though.

Have a read through this thread and find out more.... we do discuss the Logik IR100 radio in some depth there after the initial Aldi related product.
