It looks like my contvertible will finally be on the road in time for winter.................bugger.

I was considering putting into long term storage until spring so I was wondering if anybody knows of any new people offering classic car storage? Primarily in the Cork area. I know there's a place in Wicklow and alfasudcrazy has a place in Tralee for 125 a month. It may be worth my while to travel that far considering it's long term but I'm hoping for a better option. OB classics in Crosshaven also offer storage so I've been in touch with them to get details. junkyard let me know of a place in Carrigtwohill which seemed perfect but I think the bays were just too small. Anywhere else?

    Hello all,
No, I am not in Ashford at all and in fact, closer to Bray. With the opening of the M50 which ultimately becomes the N11, the access is quick. My storage offers more than just basic parking. One would have their own 6 x 3 bay, a shelf and a plug point to mention but a few. Services on offer include a car hoist amongest others. If anyone would like more details, call me directly or email me. Unfortunately, I cannot give any exact details on location from security point of view, but I would be happy to speak to anyone who is interested in availing of this services. Rates start at €140pm.

    “MY Car Storage ”

Have you ever thought “Oh I’d like that classic car but where will I park it?” or “ I really need to garage my car/s” I hope, I have provided the answers for you with “My Car Storage” facilities.

Being a classic car enthusiast and after looking around for storage I would be happy with for my own vehicles, I felt there was a need for secure dry storage with easy access. Unlike most, I offer amongst other services; easy access to your vehicle 7 days a week and most importantly dry indoor secure storage.

I am also aware that older cars do not like to be started for short periods and with that in mind, we are limiting the number of vehicles stored so that they do not have to be moved, unless there is an emergency.

    • Within 30min from Dublin
    • Road adjacent to the M50 and N11
    • Dry, condensation free storage
    • Fully alarmed
    • Short or long term storage
    • Tyre pressures checked
    • Easy access to your vehicle 7 days a week
    • 10% discount when rental paid by direct debit

We are here to help you protect your investment by providing a quality service at a starting rate of € 140.00 per month.

    You can gain access:
    • Monday – Friday between 9am and 5pm
    • Saturday 9am – 1pm

Bugger - looks like it won't be on the road until the end of the month :(

I've used the place in Carrig, bays aren't too small - depends on what you have to put in there....

    PM sent ;)

    Thanks.

I didn't say the bays in Carrig were small - they're a good size and I know my car will fit, but I don't think I'd have room to open the door and get out and it'd be a b*****d to get it in there. My car's just too wide.

Might have a look for some more commercial units around....

€140 p.m! Doesn't strike me as being value tbh.

They're too small because I don't think I'd be able to exit the vehicle once it's inside the bay.

The going rate seems to be about 100-120 per month depending on what part of the country you're in. Did you try contacting MercMan Ben?

    Hi guys,

before I get any more emails. ... I offered classic car storage over a year ago, at that time nobody was interested, so I didn't go ahead with that buisiness venture.

I don't offer any storage space...

    Thanks,
    Benjamin

Brian Nolan, there's a lot of tolerance here on the classic cars forum. That's why I'm leaving your post here alone. It is spam, but it is on topic. I've deleted your other post which was just spam. Do that again and you will post here no more!

edit: Brian Nolan's post removed at his request.

Have you learned your lesson? Asking questions on boards..... DONT BOTHER. But if you still want an answer, your probably better off starting a new thread, as this one is no longer about car storage

    Hi all,

if space is not an issue, then a 20ft shipping container, is a relativity cheap option, about 1400 to 1800 euro, its dry and secure, and ugly.

However it is a solution, and no, i dont sell them!!!

This thread was on topic until unkel and the rest of the welcoming committee waded in with all that horse sh!t about spam.

My advice is to seek out somewhere in the small ads or Daft.ie etc.,
I found my garage by dropping leaflets through doors - the first house I tried the owners were happy to rent their garage to me, complete with pit. ;)

Containers aren't too bad but you do need somewhere to put them and getting in and out of the car can be tricky.

    Blitzkrieger -
The place junkyard mentioned in carrigtwohill - the bays measure 19-20ft deep by 9-10ft wide.
AFAIK theres been american stuff stored there in the past - no probs.
(i dont own the place either!)

..........yeah that sounds big enough for most American cars, actually we used to have a lot of American car owners here.............wonder why they went ??

    *bump

I've been offered a place nearby that's fairly cheap. It's far from ideal though. Apart from some possible issues with hedges on the access road, it's not particularly dry. The roof is sound but condensation forms under it. Something like an outdoor carcoon would probably be perfect but I couldn't justify the expense. Is there any quick and dirty ways of storing a car in a damp environment?

you can leave it in my yard provided you contribute to my jameson fund.

Erm......thaaaannkkss. But how is that an improvement over a damp shed?

Just like Ben I too was about to establish a business venture storing cars new or old - in fact storing anything people wanted to store but after studying the demand (in Tralee / North Kerry) and totting up the costs - especially town council rates I decided there was no money to be made from such a venture so did not proceed and so I am as badly stuck as the rest of ye re storage for my classics. :(

However I expect to have two or three free spaces in various garages I own by the spring in case anyone is interested - all located in Tralee town.

Edit: I am presently storing three cars in a 'lock up' at the moment - its quite good, dry & secure with access 24/7 and within walking distance from home but quite expensive - works out at €150 per car PM - so €140 is about the going rate per car.

I expect to have two garages built before year end adding another 6 spaces to my current 6 so there is light at the end of the tunnel.:)
