CIÉ / IÉ idea of direct access to its stations

Look at the first picture, it's the CIÉ / IÉ idea of a straight line. In its application for permission to build Clonsilla-Pace, it lauds that the stations will have great accessibility. I'm not so sure.

Now look at the second picture, with all the details of Dunboyne station included. The 'straight' line is the simplest journey for a wheelchair user from the nearest parking space in the car park to the nearest shelter on the far platform.

If a wheelchair (or pram) user is dropped off in the set-down areas, they can't get past the narrow points on the footpath.

However, as there is no gates for out of hours access, repeats of what happened at Docklands today are likely to see people take diversions of several kilometers.
