Fired for being on the job?

I heard a story recently about a couple getting fired for being on the job.....on the job. Basically they started shagging in the middle of the gaff on a night shift. You'd think they would have snuck off to the women's toilets or something - they would have been quiet on the night shift.

I thought it was a bit harsh though. I mean, fair enough they weren't getting paid to put on a show but to fire them seemed a bit OTT. Anybody think a slap on the a<Hwrist would have been more appropriate?

stripers, night cleaners, office workers - um not? but public humilation via youtube would be on the cards imo

I remember i used to work night shift at a call centre in Barcelona, and the security guy downstairs used to bring girls in to the building all the time ..
it was funny .. then he would complain to us if we were having a sneaky beer on the job !!! I mean FFS there were 2 of us and we would get maybe 5 calls a night!!

Specifically because they're having sex? I'm not getting paid to suft the net right now (it's break-time) but I wouldn't expect to be fired if I'm caught. Why should it be different for being caught on the job? From the company's point of view surely not working is not working?

That's so amazingly unprofessional. Of course they should get sacked. It's not even professional to talk about sex in the work place much less do it. Bad idea -- should have waited for their dinner break.
