My friend has a laptop that needs the adapter all the time if wanted to turn it on. The battery is completely dead.

Where is the best place to get a new battery?

Is there a such thing as trading a old battery for new one??

No but there are specifics when disposing of old batteries. Just dont throw them in the household bin. If you want a new battery i can get you one, you can also try ebay, but always buy a new one no matter who you get it from, at least you'll have a warranty.
