2nd ones a great shot...well done as always baz.
I love the old fashioned boxing gyms, real people trying to find a realistic way out...or at least thats what it used to be.
    Nice one.

Did you use a flash in the second one? I like the way the light falls on the guy's face.

yep fired / bounced the flash , my f 1.8 nikon lens wasn't up to it at iso 800 , can't do it indoors.
Hope to get the sigma f 1.4 soon, so will be able to do a bit of indoor stuff without flash, or thats the plan .
Thanks all , strangely i prefer the first one , maybe it was my achievement in getting your man to smile :)

while the seconds still my favourite, the more i look at the first the more i get drawn into his eyes...theres a sadness, but a sense of genuine decentness in them.

second one is great (focus, determination) and the first one shows satisfaction in the face/eyes and B&W is the only way to show these

Second one is excellent just lose the white flyer on the wall. I would think something like a 10-20 would have looked great in the ring?

got the sigma 30 today , brought it down the boxing club, and shot a few with no flash .
Not too happy with results this was the best

The lighting was very bad , got better results with flash , the white balance i probably should have set to flourascent, as there was an orange glow of most.
    I set iso to 800 .
anyway live and learn, i might even get out of Dublin , and practice down in Wicklow, following the early morning thread -- something different.

thanks Cabaal -- unfortunatly that was taken with a bounced flash , i splashed out on a new fast lens , and it couldnt equal it -- or maybe i'm learning again

Baz, I got the same lens last week. You have to be quite careful with focusing at larger apertures because the DOF is so thin. I find it hard to use on moving subjects, but setting the autofocus to servo helps a bit.

yeah , i only got it yesterday , and took it down the boxing club , where the lighting is atrocious .

Following your ealy moning mist thread, i plan to bring it down to wicklow at the weekend and play around with it, probably isn't the best lens for landscapes -- but what the hell , i'll learn its limitations.
