Hey i was wondering does anybody know anything about loop pedals? Or loop stations Vs delay pedals w/ loop sampler.

I'm starting up gigging as a one man band.. Just playing acoustic and singing.. but i want to make if a bit different. i play some percussion on the acoustic but would like to loop it and just generally spice up the performance..

Would be looking for a loop pedal where when u have a number of loops saved and u can start and stop any loop when u please rather than looping then over dubbing and bringing them all in at once..

This make any sense to anybody!?
I was looking at the Boss Loopstaion RC20xl and the line 6 delay moduler (check youtube) anymore i should know about?

    any ideas?

I'm looking for an RC-20 at the mo, I rang around and Musician/Musicmaker should be getting them tomorrow (Friday) or next week. With the RC-20XL as far as I'm aware you can record the base loop, then dub it etc etc. You can store each particular base loop and the relevant overdubs on 1 of 11 store banks and you can change to a different prerecorded loop on any of the banks by simply turning the knob to a different bank - it goes in smoothly (ie. as soon as your current loop finishes, it switches to the next bank you've selected without a pause).

Is that what you meant? If so, the RC-20XL is very handy. I'm picking one up myself soon. If you wanted to go as a one man band perhaps the RC-50 wouldn't be out of your league, a lot more versatility. Check it out sure. Don't know about any other loop stations.

KT Tunstall does something similar with a loop pedal called AKAI HEADRUSH, i saw her on an awards show last year doing a number called 'black horse and the cherry tree', it was amazing, she had her vocals and the guitar linked in to 2 of these pedals i think so she put punch in / take out vocal loops or guitar loops, really really cool,

    here's her set up.

I bought something similar, can't remembe what its called now, great fun but its a bit slow taking the last loop out so maybe not the best for live work, i'll check the name when i get home, has loads and loads of space though, pretty simple i think compared to one of those loopstations though.

Hi guys. I've been playin guitar for about half my life at this stage and working in a music shop for a good while too. The advice I'd offer is that there are so many pedals more useful than the loop, and there's not much point in getting one unless you a have a very specific need. The RC-20XL has an RRP of €299, which is a lot of money for a pedal that you'll use for maybe one song in a set.

If you're dead set on buying one though go for the RC-20XL.

    Cheers!
