Req:Alternative ink cartridge for Dell

Can anyone tell me what version of Lexmark the Dell 725 printer is. As I read on here previously you can buy lexmark ink and break off the tab to make it fit into the holder.
Also I am probably going to change the printer after this one runs out as its a pain getting cheap ink. So for a basic printing what is the best inkjet that has the cheapest/easiest to get compatable ink cartridges

    Thanks

Cheers Brian, have emailed the local CW but no reply yet. Did you bring up your old cartridge to get refilled?

Most CW places will refill for you in 30/60 mins depending how busy they are, sometimes they have full refilled ones and will sell them to you

Refilled ones will generally show up as being empty on your computer once you put them in, so its difficult to keep track of how much ink you have left.

Yes, 7 day shop are very good but they don't list Dell, so unless the OP gets an answer to his original question it's back to square one.

Cheers lads, shot off an email to 7dayshop so will see what they come back with. CW will do it for €11 but as TPD mentioned you wont normally be able to tell how much you have used

Try www.ink4arteurope.com. Based outside Galway city. Very good service . Dont know if they do Dell, though.

After a careful study and I have decided to order Ink for my printer at freephotopaper.com
Because Getting the best prints on your inkjet printer is usually comes determined by selecting the right type of ink cartridge.

Did you try inkjet.ie? For my printer (not a Dell though) they were much cheaper and generally delivered to me the next day.

Moral of the story here is dont buy a Dell printer just because its cheap!
You can get decent cheap compatible cartridges for Epson and Lexmark printers. I got something like 10xblack, 5Xcyan, 5xmagenta & 5xblue off svp.co.uk for less than €60 delivered over a year ago and have only started to run out now

    I think it's one of the 600 series, possibly a 602.
I've used Lexmark 10N0026 (colour) & 10N0016 (B&W) with success (after the tab modifiction of course).

TBH, Dell seemed to be cheaper for cartridges than buying either Lex or compatibles. As I don't print much, I usually run out of ink, then buy whatever I can get in a hurry.

Some of the compatibles I tried were poor, bad banding & one died after a few days use. I suspect these were refilled, so ymmv.

Had a similar problem finding a refill for my Dell 720. At the end of the day, I purchased a new printer(HP), complete with 2 cartridges for less than €30 from Argos. Obviously it would depend on your usage of your printer, but I only usually use mine for printing odd pages (no photos etc) so I'm not after high quality! Makes you wonder why cartridges and ink are so expensive though doesn't it?

For basic printing i just pop down to PC World & get a refill kit (around 15 euro), lasts about 3 refills and takes just 5-10mins to refill yourself.

So all in all works out about 5euro a refill.

I've heard that dell stoppped sending the ink cartridges by registered mail and that if your cartridges were to go "missing" in the post its cheaper for them to send out new ones then to try sort out the missing ones.

EDIT: By the way i just taught this was interesting!!
