Anyone else having trouble with the playstation network today?

Getting timeouts and involuntary sign outs :(

Happens to me maybe twice a day, but usually signs back in straight afterwards... a "Network Problem" little icon(or something like that) comes up on top right of screen but then it sorts itself out. Im using firmware 1.93 I think.

    Well still having the issues...

    Hi,

I'm getting errors today connecting to the playstation network. It either
times out without an error code or I get 8002A548 or 8002A705. I had my
PS3 in the DMZ before and it was working perfectly. With it not working
today I tried applying all firewall rules recommended in your faq/manual
and no joy. It is now back in the DMZ. Internet connection is fine and
running a connection test confirms this, it just returns a response saying
playstation network timed out... intermittently I can sign in but I am
signed out again seconds later. To save me spending another few hours
trying to troubleshoot this... is this on your side? Is there issues with
the actual playstation network in Europe today?

    Thanks in advance,

    Simon

I sent the above to the Playstion Support guys and they responded saying call them... I called and this is the start of the convo after he read above...

PS : "Have you tried resetting your router?"
ME : "Yes, I power cycled it and left the power out for a minute"
PS : "Can you try leaving the power out for ten minutes and calling back please?"

What the hell is with that? When I said no, his response was just to ring Linksys... so I kept him on the phone, supplied my ps3 with a public ip and direct connection to the internet and immediately ruled out the router, same issue. So then he tells me we haven't ruled out the router...

Anyway enough moaning about them. I know its not me now unless I am getting a bad ping between my Irish Broadband connection and their servers... did anyone else experience this all day today??

Yeah i've been having problems also. I'm with Irish Broadband too. I wonder if the problem is IBB related? Have you got onto them yet?

To be fair the guy might have had a valid point. A lot of ISPs use IP provisioning so the modem only sees one device at a time. This should be the router. By switching it off for 10-15 minutes it clears the ip/mac address table in the modem, connecting the router then might resolve some issues.

This might have been what he was getting at.

Anyways i know where you're coming from, my connection drops from time to time. I'm getting homeplugs this week so i'll let you know if they help the situation.

I see your point but isn't really relavent to my situation... I guess it is hard for him to understand when 90% of the people are on ADSL.

I managed to get onto Warhawk today for a few seconds... I got enough to see that the ping was 2 for 2 servers and 20ish for alot more... then game connected fine... got one kill and then it d/c'd me again from the network.

Interesting your with IBB too... what should I say if I do ring though? Everything else in my house is working fine...

I used to get disconnected regularly but since upgrading to 1.93 it's been perfect never getting disconnected. That was until about 2 days ago it's been losing connection again to the PSN all the time.

What broadband service are you with?

Yeah I just can't connect at all now though...

I've found one problem that could be effecting it... a tree has grown enough to block my view to 3rock and i'm only getting a 70% signal to noise ratio. IBB have amazing service though... they spotted that issue straight away and are sending someone out to sort it :)

But if you are having the same issue then maybe this isn't the cause of my PSN issues...

    Any luck?

I'm on their DSL service btw and I can't even sign in now. I've tried every possible setting. Is this a playstation network issue???

    Incredibly annoying though!!!!

Ive been having that problem for the last few months! Very annoying. It was grand at the start so I say the problem is with the ps3 and not my router, but hopefully it will go away

I think it was fine until the 1.93 firmware?!

What isp are you with kev_85?

Really starting to piss me off at this stage! I connect for 5 minutes, then it craps out........

I would assume this is an ISP problem as this never happened with Eircom. The other 3 pc's on the network work fine, its JUST the PS3!!!!
