Sorry this time they are not for giving away but of anyone does want them when i'm finished with them thats no problem....

One of the things about playing with a poker skin thats also a poker book publisher is that keep winning books..... or maybe they are trying to tell me something ;)

I get to pick 3 from this list??

Any advice on which to pick?

    Harrington on holdem vol 2

    Harrington on holdem vol 3

Sam Braids - The Intelligent Guide to Texas Hold'em Poker

Edward O. Thorp - The Mathematics of Gambling

David Sklansky & Mason Malmuth - Hold 'Em Poker for Advanced Players

Theory of Poker - David Sklansky

Play Poker Like the Pros - Phil Helmuth Jr

Barry Greenstein - Ace on the River

The Education of a Poker Player - Herbert O. Yardley

    HOH 1 and 2 Sklanskys.
Haven't read it, but I've heard that Yardley's book is well worth getting, so maybe that instead of HOH.

Definitely HoH 1 and 2, but Hold 'Em for Advanced Players is a limit book. Greensteins isnt a bad read.

    HOH 1& 2.
Didnt rate ace on the river at all.

Reading a good book at the moment "The man behind the shades". If you come across it, get it. Great read. Didn't think that anybody could be such a degenerate, the man was one crazy mofo.

Ace on the river is alright but I wouldn't go out of my way for it especially from a strategy point of view as it's largely biographical. The man behind the shades is one of the most interesting books I've ever read on any topic I think, what a life he lead, unreal

Do you think the limit book is a more valuable read than Sklanskys NL book?

I'm not a huge fan of Sklansky's stuff, but they're all still worth a read. I thought his NLHE TAP book was really, really good though

the harrington on holdem stuff is awesome imo

HoH 1&2 are good books .
Thoery of Poker I think is the best poker litrutrue ever written and it’s not even close.
I would not bother with Helmute as he can’t possibly have much to say about the game.
Ace on the River is average with nothing groundbreaking at all.
Sklansky’s Limit poker will not really be of any use to be honest unless you intend to play Limit poker.

Hellmuths is crap....didnt even make it through half....
I know its not on your list, but if anyone gets the opportunity to pick up Phil Gordon's Little Green Book, I found it full of excellent tips, and its written in a very easy to read way.

Slightly off topic but theres a book out something on the lines of Holdem No Limit cash Professional aimed specifically for cash games, i cant think of the name but ive heard good reports, has anyone read it and wheres the best/handiest place to buy it?

I second or perhaps third 'The man behind the shades' . Its a great read and it was some life he had. I may dust it down and send it to a fellow boardie in a kind of impromptu no return library service (basically like a college library).

Incidentally, for those who haven't read it, I saw a 5 or 6 part Stewie documentary on Pokertube which was made prior to the book being created and is basically the same content by the folks who made that book but in documentary form, well worth a view as the evenings roll in.

I ordered this from Chapters on Parnell St, it took 3 days and cost 30 quid which was excellent. I havent started it yet!

Really? I thought it was abysmal. 5/10 NL. A few limpers you have A5c on the button Minraise as a pot sweetener. WTF?

The second half of the book had a few good points, but mainly i thought it was really bad.

Well that's pretty horrific lol. I did think there was a lot of good stuff in it though, things that people kind of know and do anyway but when you see it written down it helps to make things clearer, at least at least in my head! Haven't read it since last summer but I def think it improved my play.

I ordered Professional No Limit and I'm really looking forward to it.

Theory of Poker is a must read. I've read HoH 1 & 2 and they're both excellent, particularly for tourneys.

I've read Play Poker like the Pros and it's definitely not worth getting for the Hold'em content, the omaha stuff wasn't great either and they were the only parts I read. Apparantely the omaha 8 or better section is good. There's some 7 card stud in there as well but I don't know anything about it.

The education of a Poker Player is a very good read, no tips or strategy in it though.
