Selling goods to a Gov Body

    Hi,

I am going to sell some computer goods that I am buying from UK to an Irish Gov body.
The Irish Gov Body is not going to pay VAT obviously (Unless I missed something) but I am a bit confused within the process.

How does it works ? Shouldn't I been exempted from the UK Tax office for paying VAT in that case, or should simply pay the VAT and deducte it from my usual operations ?

Thank you very much for in input

Make sure that you have a tax clearance cert ready, as state bodies have a habit of buying items from companies and then refusing to pay until they issue a tax clearance cert

You could be waitng a while to reclaim the UK VAT too unless you are registered for VAT in the UK. I'd look to pay no VAT on the imported goods by providing your supplier with your Irish VAT reg number.

If yourself and the UK co are Registered for VAT the sale should be VAT free.
