Suggestion for mods....

Hey guys. I don't mean to be presumptuous but maybe think of this as a suggestion.

This place is great for advice, no question there. It's just that I pick alot of tips randomly; like when someone posts a great shot for C & C and we get down to the techniques involved, processing etc.

I think it'd be cool if we didn't wait for someone to post a great shot to develop ideas and discuss technique. What I'm thinking of would be like 'topic of the month' or something like that which could be stickied while everyone discusses it in depth; for example, I'd like to know more about lighting in October and how it changes from Autumn to Winter.

I think if we could focus the knowledge of the board on one topic a month and we could all do our 'homework'; head out and take pictures having taken various bits of advice on-board and post our successes/failures for discussion.

Anyways, it's just an idea. Am also looking forward to the next meet!

If you want to discuss a topic such as "lighting in October and how it changes from Autumn to Winter" then create a thread and discuss it don't wait until someone posts a great shot :p

Aaaah, very nice to see someone interested in a bit more than which compact under €200 to buy :D

I think stickies are a bit dodgy in that they get overlooked very quickly - in fact, more so than a popular thread. If you have an idea that you want to discuss, start a thread about it, suggest how others could join in and if that takes off we could see about making it a regular effort. It's just that with the formality of a monthly thing comes obligation and it sometimes stops it from being so much fun, when the interest trails off.

Maybe to start a thread like that you could choose a topic, post a couple of example shots, give some suggestions for activities, ask questions, and maybe link to an article/essay/blog relating to it too. Then people can come along and add their own experiences, links, examples.
