    Hey,
I'm looking for a nice friendly place in Galway city (or near enough) to get a brazilian done. I'm new to the area. (Both Galway and waxing!!)

Also, how much should I expect to pay?? And how long would it take??

    Cheers, J

Had my first (Californian) waxing done a few weeks ago in Purejoy in Galway City. Wasnt too uncomfortable n very professional. It was my first time and it wasn't too bad at all..

I'm considering, but hear so many horror stories of having to get into awkward positions etc...just how true is this..before I go I want to be totally prepared!

I know the feeling!! It wasnt too bad though.
Take some painkillers beforehand too and it won't be too sore.
I'm due to have one soon but am putting it off but it's not that bad, they are professionals & have seen it all!! That's what got me through......

Angel Beauty Salon in Galway,Flood Street, very professional, cheaper than I thought it would be. Horror stories all untrue! No akward positions, but i would strongly advise taking a few painkillers an hour before you go! Positive experience overall.
Was recommended to me and I will recommend to anyone! :)

Has anyone tried Bellisimo for this? The girl in my regular place has left the country and when i rang the other day to ask if she had been replaced i was told oh we're all doing it now :eek:Had to make the appointment then but i really don't want to go if they don't know what they're at.

Take care where you go to get this done in Galway..... in my experience there are QUITE a few butchers out there, and a lot of places use strip wax only for specialist waxing...which is nothing short of daft; and very painful for you!!. In fact as far as I'm aware there are only at most 5 places in Galway even using hot wax:confused:

However, after trying quite a few places and having both good, not so good, and very bad experiences I would have to recommend Wish in Knocknacarra. They use Lycon Hot wax and there's a girl there called Maria who is excellent.... she used to work in Urban Wax in Dublin. She's very quick and it doesn't hurt so much. No awkward positions etc, and you actually feel confident and somewhat relaxed whilst she is doing it as opposed to the sheer terror and 'O fcuk...WHAT is this woman doing' experiences I've had in Galway in the past..... I've been to two of the 'known' salons in Dublin and she is deffo on a par with them......can't say fairer than that!!!

Bellissimo have one or two girls who specifically do specialist waxing as far as I know but I have never tried them; I stick with Wish now tbh....

Manuka thanks a million you really can't beat a personal recommendation! I've had the strip waxing before and was trying to avoid that especially since i want to get the hollywood  I've gotten an appoinment with Wish for 3.10 today.

ETA back to say thanks again, they were great and I definitley won't be going anywhere else

yea i know bellisimo do them for definite. Last time I went there I remember talking to one of the therapists about it- wouldnt really reccomend them though as the girl who did a regular wax for me last time hadnt a clue!! but maybe i was unlucky as i know she had just been trained.

Bills i'd recommend Wish after today - even the hollywood was ok and Manuka was right she knew exactly what she was doing and inspired confidence. TG for the post as i had originally made an appointment for Bellisimo!

I want to get a Brazillian for the first time and it seems Wish is the place to go. I even read about the lotion the use in the Galway Independent. I just have one question......Do they make you take your underwear off? I know in 5th avenue they didn't, but I think alot of places do. Anyone know?

It's up to you I would say.

If you take it off they give you a towel which is at all times strategically placed.

It's no biggy having it done without; in fact I would think it's easier and you actually end up preserving a little more modesty in fact!!

    P.S. Wish are brill;)

Just moved to Galway about 10 days ago and have been looking for somewhere to get it done. I last got a brazillian done about a month ago in Cork with Douglas Beauty for €20 (another Groupon - don't judge!) which was good enough, but still a little sore and the lines were a little crooked (awks!) - but they were still very nice.

I was going to book an appointment with Heaven Scent in town, but then saw there was a groupon for €15 for either a hollywood or brazillian. Said I'd chance my arm and booked it (it was with Suite Beauty - https://www.facebook.com/SuiteBeauty). It's a little out of the way if you're not driving, up off the Tuam road, but I would definitely recommend her. Her name is Rachael and it was over in about 15 mins and was not painful at all! She was really professional and down to business, but so lovely at the same time, which is all really appreciated considering how awkward all this can be sometimes. She also gave me some advice about exfoliating etc.

I usually wouldn't have gone through the hassle of posting a recommendation or anything beyond a facebook like, but I was so impressed with everything today and Rachael even gave me a lift home out on the Bishop O'Donnell road as she was driving out this way to pick up a tanning-something-or-other and I had a big bad of stuff with me. I was so impressed and grateful, I said I'd throw up a few words about my experience as I know when I was looking last week I did see this thread. And it's nice to share a good experience!

    Happy waxing ladies!
