Would you be happy with victory and no qualifcation?

I was wondering, before the tournament we expected this to be a shoot off for the 2nd qualifying place but now it's oh so more.

If Ireland beat Argentina this afternoon but fail to qualify for the Quarters will you be pleased?

It would be some consolation but I'd hardly be happy with elimination.

yes and no, today could be more about pride, as long as they put in a good performance

to be honest I just want to see a good performance where we play to our real potential

To be honest yes. I really don't want to see us in an QF against the AB's. We could EASILY end up on the wrong side of a 60 point trashing and no one I would rather that we get eliminated from the 'group of death' and be the only team to go out at the pool stages with 3 victories - then watch that.

If we win today and don't progress we could put SOME postitive spin on the RWC, and I don't think that would be possible after we play an inform AB side.

No - absolutly NO - this is the once in a lifetime team , a team that should have been pushing to make the breakthrough into the big 4 , talents such as O'Driscoll , O'Connell , Darcy - going home without making the quaters would be a disaster in my eyes, and the blame would lie soley with EOS, with his crazy squad selections - remember also we were not hit by any real injuries.

I don't think we'd lose that heavily at all against NZ tbh. I haven't been totally impressed by them so far. They were less than convincing against the 2nd string Scots and again yesterday there were a lot of mistakes from them.

That's not to say we'd be right in the game but if we did the impossible later today we'd give ourselves a shot.

No I would prefer to lose rather than have people being able to put any positive spin on what has been a woeful set of performances.Of course my opinion would be different if we could manage to come up with the miracle. If we could get the four tries etc the cofidence that would give the team would probably spur them on to a decent showing against NZ and a defeat of probably less than 20 points. It won't happen though.I don't think we will be within 10 of Argentina.

if we do get through, i do think NZ will hammer us, they have not really met any oposition yet, as for the match against scotland, the shirt selection was crazy, i'd be surprised even the players could distiningish each other at times

anyhow, back to ireland i think just as long as they can win, give the fans who have traveled, something to cheer about about

I'd love to see them win even if it doesn't mean qualification. While that might be sickening for the players at least if they put in a decent performance people will wonder what they could have done if they went further.

Winning and not qualifiying is actually a pretty good outcome I think.

Does anyone else realise how far the Irish team have fallen in the space of a year when we actually start talking about at least putting in a decent performance rather than even reaching the QF?

Remember that after the autumn internationals we were ranked third in the world.

That seems like years ago now.

the way i see it, argentine deserve to be in the QFs, ireland don't.

anyway whats the point ...we'll only be humiliated by the all blacks
