    Hi Guys
Does anyone know where I can get one?
I have bought the beaumark one as last resort but it never lasts very long.
At this stage I would pay anything to get one;) My old faithful morphy richards bit the dust last week.
    thanks a mil guys

What type are you looking for Dan? Brown Tomas have a great variety if you're round 'the big smoke'. Check out some of the links in the stickies for on-line resources.

Is it the 'drip machine'type? What sort of a budget have you set aside?

    Thanks for the reply.
I will make a trip to Brown Thomas specially! No not the drip type its the type that looks a bit like a tall kettle and there is a long stick type piece in the middle, the coffee goes in a basket at the top and the water is pushed up through the stick to the basket. The great thing about a percolater is that it keeps the coffee piping hot.not matter how long its on and it tastes great.
I dont mind paying 100 -200 euro to get a good one.
    cheers

Sounds like a Moka Pot is what you're looking for.

They're widley available and BT do have a range of them.

OP, I'm guessing this is the type of device you're looking for.

Can't say I've noticed them on my travels recently, but I'd guess
Arnotts or BT might be your best shot. Those percolators sure aren't
as common as they were in the 70's ;). Give Arnotts, BT and maybe
Home Store+More a phone call before visiting, might save you a wasted
    journey.

Gran Hermano thats exactly what I am looking for!
Not that I used one in the 70's;) but years of living in the US got me used to the percolator!
I have tried arnotts and called morphy richards direct but they dont make them anymore!
But that site you linked looks perfect I will see if they will ship.
    much appreciated Cheers:D

The Dualit gets good reviews on Amazon UK
if only the muppets hadn't stopped shipping to Ireland.

Here's another UK site hopefully one of them will ship to Ireland.

Edited to add: Another UK stockist - they say under their T&Cs they are happy to ship internationally.

It's a pain trying to find a one cup one,
to get the proper flavour etc you have to pack in the coffee tight so the normal 3 cup sizes are overkill :(

    I'm just a greedy bugger so the 3-cup does me. True though, I haven't seen a 1-cup.

i seen a one cup pot in sligo. http://www.bialetti.it/uk/catalogue/scheda.asp?id_cat=187
i prefer my 3 cup moka, i cant see the point of single espresso's :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,330 ✭✭✭Gran Hermano

Back when Bialettis were my main method of making espressos
I used the 3 cup if I was making a cup for myself. Just consider
the 3 cup as a 'large double' ;).

Single espresso, whatever next - decaf?

Dear god don't get a percolator. Its one sure fire way to make a ****ty cup of coffee. The water gets too hot.

Also a moka-pot in not a percolator. There's a different mechanic completely involved.

yep, they're different, but has anyone tried the electric moka pots?

    There's always the bialetti percolator
