"Crikey," said Thomas, looking up at the bright blue sky, where
parachutes blossomed and sank slowly to earth, "German paratroopers".

In the distance there was a chugging and a puffing and the grizzled
face of Jonesy, the armoured train, came into view.

His armour was old and his guns were antiques, but Thomas could see a
glint in his eye that had never been there before.

"Hello Jonesy," said Thomas, "there are German paratroopers
    everywhere! Whatever shall we do?"
"Don't panic, Thomas" said Jonesy and turned his eyes up to the sky
over Tidmouth where a flight of Stukas were beginning their dive.

"Mr. Kitchener, he siad, he said to me, when we was in the Soodan. He
said. 'Jones.' That was what he called me Jones, you see. That were
his name for me, it was. He were a real gent. He said 'Jones, FIRE!'"

And the battered armoured train's guns began to roar.

Come join us in Cassidy's at 1900 on Thursday the 4th of October and take part in one of the lesser known campaigns of the Second World War, the airborne invasion of the island of Sodor.

In the dying days of 1940, after near victory in the Battle of Britain, the German invasion of Britain, Operation Sealion, was launched. It was supported by Operation Little Eagle, a daring airborne attack on the island of Sodor. The British forces, a rag tag collection of Territorial Army units and Home Guardsmen struggled against elite German paratroopers for possession of Britain's expose western flank.

YOU can part in a recreation of the vital first four days of this unique campaign. The campaign will be run over two Thursdays (4th & 18th October) and will be played as a succession of single board Memoir '44 scenarios as British and German forces fight it out for control of the island.

Two player single board games are the order of the day, with each player playing ideally playing two games over the night, which should leave plenty of time for discussing strategy over a pint (or schnaps) in the mess.

Players wishing to do their homework should cast their eyes over the special rules for: Armoured Trains, Cavalry, Snipers and Paratroopers.

    They can be found here.

    http://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44/en/content/rules/?game=base

There will also be additional special rules covering: Home Guard units, Glider landed troops, AA guns and the new, untried and as yet untested "Stukas over Sodor" drinking game.

The German forces will be led by Field Marshall Vincent Von Carpenter, a hardened veteran who has yet to lose a battle, while the British defenders will be under the command of General Dave "The Walking Port Decanter" Gorman.

Players should be advised that both Field Marshall Von Carpenter and General Gorman have laid money on their being the victor at the end of the campaign, so this one is likely to be a hotly contested and bitter struggle.

Stukas over Sodor is part of the IGA Parasite fundraiser and is covered by the five Euro cover charge for the night.
