I have a '98 A6 with climate control and lately its starting to make a low growling noise when its set to auto. How troublesome are these units generally? I've never known anyone to have to do more than re-gas them but it seems to work fine apart from the irritating noise.

Well my first suggestion is don't have it on auto, select temp and operate the blower manually.

CC is great until it goes wrong (usually a flap that no longer opens/closes).
