You should post this on jobs.ie

And here:

Posting exclusively in the poker forum will probably be ineffective.

Will there be sufficient dealers on the day?

I'm sure you've had plenty of offers from players here and I would like to add my name to them if you like, possibly only for the first two hours, if I survive that long.

Cheers Doc,

Hopefully I won't have to ask it of you but if we are stuck the most I will need you to deal will be the first three levels.

Thanks again, you have been a huge help over the past few months.
Stephen.

Is there any stipulation on the number of treads a tournament organiser can start for one particular event? It seems to be one thread after another about the IPO. Id be surprised if any businessman has ever got more free advertising than Stephen McClean.

Hi all,

Ok; we have 110 dealers confirmed to deal at this point in time.....WE ARE STILL LOOKING FOR STAFF.

Of the 110 about 20 or so are a little inexperienced (very competent but not experienced in a professionally run tournament). To the other 90 I hope you read up here anyway because there are some specific rules that you will need to know, especially with regard to the team event (I will be going over all of this on the morning of this Saturday 6th Oct but this will hopefully give us a head start)....

1. Wear black trousers/skirt and a white shirt or black trousers and a black shirt.

2. Be on time. If you are due to be in for 10 am be there at 9:55am at the latest. If you are due in at 11am be there at 10:45am at the latest.

3. Remember that the International Poker Open is about players having fun and a good game of poker. You are there to enjoy the atmosphere too but conduct yourself in a professional manner.

4. When we announce shuffle up and deal, wish all the players good luck. from here on in do not get drawn into any type of conversation with players at the table, especially during a hand. Be poilte, but you are there to do a job and that is to be in control of the table, keep the action moving and do your best to prevent player error.

5. If one card is exposed (due to a mistake on your part/act of God) when dealing each player their hole cards finish the deal out. When each player has received their cards announce to the table that the *2 of hearts* is exposed. Take the third card from the bottom of the deck and give it to the player concerned. Then simpy replace the *2 of hearts in the place of the card that you have taken.

6. When the tournament is on a break you must set the deck before you get up from the table. Once you have done this you will have 25 minutes or 55 minutes (depending on the length of the break) with which to stretch your legs. You must be back in the hall at least 5 minutes before play resumes or there will be big trouble from me.

7. If you are inexperienced with a race off for odd chips do not worry we will go over this fully before the event starts.

8. With regard to the team event; Every team event player must have their team card clearly displayed at all times. This is for one simple reason only, players often forget to give their team cards to dealers when they have suffered a bad beat or get caught up in the action. This way you will know when a team player is knocked out......
When a team player is knocked out you will simply have to write down their finishing position.
So if the tournament clock reads 950 players left in the tournament then you must write down three numbers on the card - 9 5 0 -.....Also, write down the time and initial the card.

9. When a player (any player not just a team event participant) is knocked out please shout out at the top of your voice "PLAYER GONE, TABLE (97)"

10. Have fun and work hard. The players will appreciate it and most will tip, very well.

Any questions about pay/conditions etc please email stephen@pokerireland.ie....Please feel free to ask questions here if you are dealing at the event.

what happens if a different card turns over other than the 2 hearts ?

like say for example 9 clubs, does that mean i still say 2 hearts exposed or do i shout player gone on 97 even if i am dealing on 46

its all very confusing, which is why they dont let me deal

on the off chance that they do let me deal, be afraid, be very afraid, coz i dont take no messin at my table

there will of course be players that like hassling dealers, if you are dealing at a table and this happens, just let the TD know and he will have a quiet word with the messer, who will then behave in a manner more in keeping with the spirit of the event.

The card should just simply be mucked incase the deck needs to be reshuffled during the hand.
