Its a few years since I've been now... But i would defo reccomend
a boat trip on mekong delta... very interesting.. theres little water vilage and everything
Chu chi tunnels... well not if you're claustrophobic but other wise go for it...very relavent to the war
You can organise tours to little tribal villages etc
You'll have the time of your life there.. its fab! Hope I'm a help..

Na Trang has a great party scene, good place for nights out.
    Cultural stuff....
Halong Bay boat trip is great. Beautiful scenery.
Hill Tribes up north in SaPa. Very interesting to see.
Cant remember the name but there's an old jail in Hanoi that is now a museum, well worth a look.
Water-puppet show...hmmm...wasnt my thing but its cheap and worth a look I guess.
Cu chi tunnels as someone already mentioned. You can do day trips there from Hi Chi Min City.
Dalat is am amazing place. Coffee plantations, huge Buddha statues, amazing scenery if you go up the hills/mountains.

    I love Vietnam :)

In saigon be sure to go to the war museum. think thats what its called now, used to be the museum of american and chinese war crimes. small but quite good. I reckon whats most interesting is just getting to know the locals and to see the difference in opinions north and south especially between saigon and hanoi.

yes all that stuff, and the msueum in hanoi is hanoi hilton, beside the new hilton hotel i think.
Also woth looking for Ho Chi Minh mausoleum if his body is backed from its annual dustdown, need to check on that.
There are plenty of tours to go on re:Vietnam war but most you get is a bit of rusted stuff and not a lot else. Think I was at Ke san? but there was hardly anthing there to see(old airstrip, rusted chopper, plane etc.), but still.. I was there! So up to you.
There is another tunnel complex further north from Saigon along the coast, maybe near the border. That was good too. Cant remember the name of it though. the whole village used to live there when the US started bombing them.
