Decided to do some testing the other night with my m4 using different motor's and voltages, was gonna do a cross post here, but there's too many images and a table in the post to format it properly (and readable) using BB code, so ill just shamelessly post a link directly to my blog instead:

    Thats sweet!
All i need to know now is how the TM EG1000 performs :)

ill update it if/when i get my hands on one, and any other motors i come across

You have one in your P90!

so i do! forgot about that, i've yet to actually open up the gearbox in that, havent had a need to yet

ill add the results for an EG1000 during the week hopefully, and if i can get my hands on a decent quality 8.4v ill test that too, the only batteries i have are either cheap 8.4v that came with clones or decent 9.6v's

Ill loan you a Sanyo 600mah 8.4 after Pred if you want.

yea, cool, means ill need to run all the tests again with the sanyo battery, but that's probably a better option anyway :)

Kinda on topic Kdouglas: If i put a 9.6V battery in an aeg designed for an 8.4V batt id need to upgrade the gears or theres a fairly high chance of tearing the teeth of em?

If it has metal bushings you wont need to do anything to it. If there are plastic bushings I'd reccomend getting metal bushings.

Arcto: the aeg i tested it in was a stock m4, no modifications or upgrades, infact i didnt even re-shim the gearbox before trying the 9.6v

in theory it can wear things down quicker because the gearbox is turning faster, but personally i think the extra rate of fire is worth it, ive yet to have a gearbox break because of using a 9.6 and i havent heard of it happening that often, if it's gonna break itll break whether you use a 8.4 or 9.6, it's not an incredible jump in voltage

regarding the bushings, ive been using my TM p90 with a 1J spring and 9.6v battery with standard nylon bushings for about 4 months now and never had a problem, also, the size of the bushings can make a fair bit of a difference too, 6mm plastic/nylon bushings would not be able to take as much load as 7 or 8mm ones

Cool. Off hand do u know if a tm sg1 has 6 or7/8mm? Id be seriously interested in getting a higher ROF as im thinking of getting a auto winding drum mag for it and using it as a support rifle as oposed to the sniper set up. Still have a scope though, they look dead sexy on it :D
