Does anyone have any experience trying to hire Taylor's Hall near Christchurch for a wedding or other event? Looks good but would like some feedback on it!:)

Do they let you do weddings there?

I was there for the Treasure Hunt on the Patrick's weekend and I thought it was kind of small, not something I could imagine being used as a wedding venue.

Nice idea though, it's a beautiful building :)

we had our work christmas do there last year, always a sumptuous event, it was black tie, and it really felt like a medieval type banquet. As it is kind of dark in the reception room the candlelight made it really atmospheric. There was a drinks reception on arrival, mulled wine as it was christmas and mojitos for something different. We had a great night, i suppose it depends on what you want out of the day but i would recommend it as a venue at least. Hope this helps....

My brother got married there two years ago.It was a fantastic venue for a wedding. You need to contact An Taisce, they run the hall. Or better again-if you know anyone who works there or has booked it before, as they are quite choosey who they will hire to. You can seat around 90 guests for dinner upstairs (hire good caterers+run your own bar) and have music ect in the cellar. The only drawback is you would have to finish around 2 or 3am-as it's a residential area.

HI, I booked it for my wedding next june as it's full of character and you get a lot of control over things - your own caterers and music/bar etc. It's proving too small for our guest list though so we've had to change venue and I'm a bit gutted as they are lovely people to communicate with. A bargain too!
You need to contace an Taisce as someone above suggested. Or call in between 2 and 4 week day afternoons. They are at the moment closed for fire regulations as a venue.
Music has to stop at half twelve too.

Do you mind me asking where you changed your booking to? I like the idea of Taylor's Hall but don't like the idea of finishing at 12.30 :-(
