was taking pics of my little sisters debs last night and i got some great snaps but theres some that didn't turn out as well as i thought and im (partially) blaming the kit lens.

so can you guys recommend a good solid all round replacement for the kit lens on the Canon 350D?. Budget is in the mid to mid-high range and a lens that can focus a bit sharper than in the pic below

Have already got this lens (which is an OK one but need to upgrade as well) but want something similiar to the kit lens on the 350D but with much better performance in dusk / fading & low light scenarios

    thanks

on a side note I gave my 350d to my 5 yr old last night and he managed to take some great snaps and it seems he's quite the little photographer. the one below is one of the worse ones he took :)

Sounds like you need something like this, but not sure if it's too steep?? Maybe this would be better for your pocket?!

Again, either the f1.4 version of the 50mm, which is supposed to be a much better lens, or maybe the 35mm f2, though I don't know anything about the lens itself.?

I could stretch my budget alright if i hold off for a couple of weeks. woul the difference in price be worth it though

It's not the lens at fault above, it's the light.

I'd be spending a few quid on a reflector (40 should buy you a decent one), and it'll bounce loads of light into her eyes, which is the main problem.

Tbh, everyone should have a reflector, with at least a white/silver side. :)
