Hi, I'm a bit lost when it comes to buying a new home computer (especially as the technology moves so fast).

Has anyone who knows their stuff got any advice on the best one to get / best dealer to go to ?

I'm not into games, and mainly use the computer for the internet, playing music, watching movies, etc.

I use mathematical programmes like Matlab and SAS on it occasionally so a computer that ran them fast would be great!

    Thanks for any help.

Oh yeah, I don't think I want to get involved with vista, the less hassle the better ;-)

Hello there, just wondering can you help me with a computer problem. "The internet provider i was with before charged me about e2oo extra on my bill they said i was uploading lots of things and thats why my bill was so high, but i later found out that it was because of a virus that was effecting my computer.. I got my computer wiped and the internet then wouldnt work even after I installed it again.. Anyway to cut a long story short my question is "If I get another internet provider would ya think it will work" I've tried asking some internet providers and they just keep telling me i wont know till i get it connected but I just dont want to spend all that money and find out then it doesnt work... Any advise would be appreciated!!!:p:p:p

Get somebody who knows PC's to look at your PC and consider a flat rate broadband package rather than dialup. It's also better to start your own thread than highjack somebody elses when you have an unrelated question.
