If a PC has onboard graphics
& you install a separate PCI graphics card
can that setup be use for dual monitors? or does it have to be
a single graphics card with two video ports?

You cannot use onboard graphics with an addon card. The motherboard wont support it. You can install another cheap pci card as your secondary display if needs be. But once you have dual monitors you'll want them all the time then. :-)

    Cheers,

You're right about the Dual Monitors, I set them up on my new system the other day & love them to bits (No going back)

That's why I have to have them on my older system now too! :D

Out of curiosity, what do you need to monitors for??

Pure space to be honest & the fact that you can have so much going on without having to minimize windows. I already have the two monitors on the new rig & a dual monitor KVM switch for popping back to the old system.

When I switch back to the old system it only displays on one monitor & like you said, when you get a taste of dual monitors, one monitor just doesn't fly.

Oh so you could be playing a game on one monitor and posting on boards on another?
