How about 'Coup de Grâce' (pronounced 'koo de grahhh') ? It means roughly 'Stroke of Mercy'. It's when someone is shot and injured and you want to end their pain, so you shoot them in the head to put them out of their misery.

I always thought that would be a cool name for a band or somethin!

Harsh, well, for this thread anyway.

Any SS mention is clearly a NAZI inuendo so whats the big deal, he said you can get nice ss badges and they are nice. people collect war badges and uniforms. gonna ban everyone who looks for that sort of uniform/badges/equip?

I actualy think if they went with a "SS" name, the NAZI loadout would be perfect. doesnt mean we condone anything they done, there equip just looks good.

I dunno about that. I mean whats next, Vietnam enthusiasts calling themselves "Tiger Force" or "My Lai Warriors" or something equally off colour? How about "3/1 Marines" or a Russian "Theatre Group"?

There is a thing called taste and something are beyond it. No matter which way you cut it, charging around in NAZI regalia is going to give people the wrong impression.

    Just my opinion.

And the equipment offends every jewish person alive...

We do not want airsoft associated with anything related to nazism.

I think that even the WWII German Uniforms are something to be avoided.

Anyway...lets not derail the thread. If needed, we can create another thread to discuss the wearing of WWII german uniforms, insignia or badges.

So no German Army gear from world war 2 allowed? Seems a bit harsh.

To be blunt, theres an image of the sport to protect. As it is you have Neo Nazi gangs in europe and farther a field using airsoft as a means to covertly train. Nazi's arn't just a thing of the past.

I'll put it this way, imagine a photo of a lad with a airsoft sniper rifle and one of the those 'IRA sniper at work' T-shirts got into a national paper? Abit of cop on in relation to things is all thats needed.

If someone wants to do a ww2 load out with nazi uniforms thats one thing, but incorporating nazi symbols in other contexts would be bang out of line in my view. Ultimately it would come down to the site owner if he/she was willing to allow you wear that gear and your own personal opinion about whether or not you'll play with some like that.

Learn your history. The majority of the german forces were infantry with no responsibility (or knowledge in many cases) of the ethnic policies of their superiors. It was the SS who were given the responsibility of carrying out the atrocities and deportations of Jews, Communists, Catholics, Homosexuals, Romany, the disabled and anyone else who fell under the remit of the purity philosophy.

So, for the most part, its fine if you want to pick up the German kit and I guess worn in the context of a themed event it has its place (yes, even the SS stuff) but for general use or as the de-facto team kit its really a little anachronistic and dodgy.

    Just my opinion.

    F.S.S

    Flying Sea Squirrels

Havent gotten into airsoft yet but have been lurking about for a few months. If you name the team id consider buying an AEG and joining. heh

Its easy to say you're being PC until some polish person arrives out at hrta...

I've started a thread to discuss this.

And I forgot to mention the Polish on my list ... that was really stupid of me.

    Agreed.

The problem is that ordinary Joe Soap may not know WWII history all that well. But from watching WWII movies, they may recognise the uniforms.

Again, it's about the image, and WWII German uniforms MIGHT offend some people or groups. I personally don't have a problem with someone wearing the uniform, but it's something I would avoid to prevent possibly offending anyone.

And yes, I agree that as part of a themed event (like Salute.ie) it's fine as it's for educational purposes.

Cant find the thread you started hivemind so ill carry on here
Will someone be offended if I wear my IDF uniform when I get to the new site.
will it be not on in case a palestinian sees me and gets offended?
tbh ive no problem with the nazi uniforms it will make for a good milsim.
the thing I would be worried about is the whole neo nazi thing I can see the front page of the sun now ( Irish Nazis in Swords Show ) or something similar.
Its a very very touch subject considir that they recently arrested a cell of nazis in Israel a few weeks ago. of all places where you wouldnt expect to find them.

Bottom line if something in the cinema offends you then you can leave and get your money back.
If a song on the radio causes upset you can complain.
There should be an oppertunity to ask someone not to wear the uniform next week or whatever if it does upset someone.
That to me is common sence

I asked people yesterday in another mess of a thread to be careful what they posted. Before they press submit, look it over to see If it illegal or going to get a wrong reaction. A lot of what I said was aimed at Arcto.

Then what does he do? Replies to a thread and of course latches onto one of the more questionable names. THEN decides to post a huge picture full of Swaskitas. Completely ignoring what I'd said.

Anyway, I think the lads have said it all really, so I'll leave that be for the moment.

    Back on topic.
