Xbox extenders - any way to..

Folks, is there any way of stopping a particular Xbox extenders session with the HTPC its extending from? Ok - I know..just turn the Xbox off..

    But from a remote location?
I mean, as i understand it the extender operates as if its actually remoting onto the HTPC - not unlike using mstsc command (remote desktop) in XP etc (or is this incorrect).
So if a person were to be working on the HTPC can they 'see' the extenders that are connected and terminate the connection if desired. The HTPC is a computer after all and it is MS underneath so you'd imaging that you could even run a script to terminate certain connections @ a certain time in the evening.. a sort of 'lights out kids..'

I'm asking this as I've gotten no replies to an earlier post asking if its possible to control the extenders from a central location i.e. one 'master' remote to turn them off.

I dont know of anything, a quick brainstorm......

    1. Individual NIC's that you could disable on the HTPC.
    2. Managed switch that you could "cut the cable"

From the OS, I dont know, but I dont have an XB360 to toy with either.

try asking on www.thegreenbutton.com. Quite a few M$ developers hang out there.

    ..thanks SouperComputer..

...I was thinking of tying string to all the power cables in each room leading back to my sofa.
Then whenever i chose, one quick tug and voila..good night extender :D
Only joking of course.. i haven't got an xbox extender myself so can't experiment with a software solution.

    1. Individual NIC's that you could disable on the HTPC.
Multiple Nics..hadn't thought about this.. in a normal setup with more than one extender how are they connected to the HTPC..via a switch\hub?

    2. Managed switch that you could "cut the cable"
Did think that this could be a way but again more equipment\clutter needed so a last resort maybe.

Will give the greenbutton a shout.
If i get an answer I'll post it back here for others to see.
