Anyone Else Lost

I'm not sure if this should be in Work & Jobs or Personal, but anyway. I dropped out of Arts UCD a couple of years ago after 2nd year. I then spent the last year traveling. I now just feel completely lost. I'm 23, didn't finish and wonder if there is any way to find a meaningful career without College. Anyone in same situation?
    Thank You

College isn't everything. I know plenty of successful business men who didn't go to college.

I left school at 15 and I have had several high paying jobs in the last 10 -12years and now have my own business.

As long as you have good character, common sence and plenty of drive you can do what you want.

I'm now at this stage where most people I know my age would be traveling. Can you really do that without finishing. I'm not just talking about the year in Australia, if you wanted to live somewhere else, it's a huge setback, Right?
    Thank You

OP, you've posted this query before and I responded to a pm from you. You're obviously not getting enough info - maybe you should start a thread in Personal Issues. More people frequent there than here.
I personally think you should finish your degree - college ISN'T the be-all-and-end-all but it gives you an edge. You don't have very much left of the course. Did you pass or fail second year?
Right now it's too late to go back, so what about looking into a job for a year - there is TONS of admin work out there. Didn't you say you had gone for the bank? Why not get an admin/bank job, do a typing course at night and then go back and finish your degree? I did something very similar. Dropped out after failing second year, went working in offices for three years (city council and bank admin), then got a second job a couple of nights a week in a newspaper (typing) and went back to college to do a one-year PLC course in media, finished my degree the following year. I was 24 when I went back to university, 26 when I graduated. Some of the best years of my life and SO worth it. Then I did a masters.
You may have a different attitude to college too. Why did you leave anyway?

Have you thought about joining the emergency services? The Gardaí? I was interested in that, but thought about it and decided it was a bit of a thankless job. I'm probably going to try to join the fire service when I finish college (not that a degree matters in the FS). If you're interested in travelling then maybe you could join the army? It's not as big a deal as say the US Marine Corps, but you'll get good training and pick up alot of skills, as well as doing a 6 month tour abroad. The term is 5 years I believe, but you can buy yourself out of the contract for ~€300!

    Just some ideas.

If you want to travel then there is nothing stopping you going to any EU country, renting a place, and working in any menial job. It would be a great experience and you would pick up the language quickly, just do alot of lessons before you go.

Failing that there's the Oz thing.

If I'd finished, I could be doing a Post-Grad now and could easily get a 1-2 year VISA. I can't really do that now, anyone else bothered by this?

No, it's a fair policy. Every country wants skilled migrants (in general) and you don't qualify as one at present (i don't doubt your ability).

What was your arts in? What are your interests? Is there anything in college that interests you? There are so many different courses out there....evening and weekend ones to boot.

The Gardai was mentioned above. Places like New Zealand and Australia are crying out for people in this line of work.

You're focusing on a lot of negatives. You either need a kick in the hole (in a friendly way) or someone qualified to speak to who can give you some proper guidance.

Personally, I was not in a too dissimilar dilemma to you.I finished my degree though it was useless to me as I hated the course. Worked in a bank for one year, then moved onto fund admin for another year. Figured out the path ( though not 100%) I wanted to take and am now back doing a one year course I'm really interested in. I'm turning 26 shortly.

Where is it you want to travel? Have you looked up the criteria?
For example, Australia are also crying out for nurses, accountants, tradesmen etc.

You're providing very little information here at the moment.
