    Dear All

I am getting my wife the Canon 40D for her birthday.

It will be the body only, unless anybody can tell me where to get it with a lens included, except from eBay.

So, I am looking for a great all round lenses, one that will be able to keep her busy till we can afford a decent lens.

Looking to spend max 300 on the lens.

    Thank you.

get the body and maybe also something like this - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Canon-EF-28-135mm-28-135-f-3-5-5-6-IS-USM-Lens-NEW-0S_W0QQitemZ200157037078QQihZ010QQcategoryZ4687QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem

    P'raps also a 50mm f1.8 for under a hundred. Breaks the budget a bit but I'm sure she's worth it :D

I suggest you get yourself a nice set of golf clubs or something, because your wife is going to be busy with that camera. :)

I am getting the camera for €1150 excl delivery, so make it €1200. so add 300to the mix for a lens, comes up to €1500

Anybody knows what is the delivery charge from 7day shop, and how reliable they are...

Get it from Kea Photo on ebay and save yourself nearly €200. A number of here have done that with no problems. Quick delivery too.

It doesnt make alot of sense to get a 40D and then skimp on the lens, unless of course she already has some?

We will be going to the States in December, and will pick up a good lense there. The readon that I will be getting the camera here and not in the states, is that by that time she would have a few months experience with the camera, instead of us looking all over the lace for the cheapest one once we wre there.

We will be spending the first 4 days in Vegas, so plenty reasons for her to have it once we arrive.

For general all-purpose carry-around lens recommendations, I always say the Canon 17-85 f/4-5.6 IS USM. Add a circular polariser and your wife will be happy out for months with the variety of shots that can be taken with this lens.

I have one on my 400d, and it rarely comes off.

Well when it comes to lenses I really have no idea. It is a Canon one though...

Well it is round, obvious, about 5 cm long, and some settings that I know nothing about. It is about 6 years old, but is compatible. :D:D

Well she got me a 42" Plasma for my birthday, so fair is fair, I think.
