Tracer compatibility

    After looking at
    http://youtube.com/watch?v=htrlNT9hLqE
and some other clips, I think it could be fun, so I might pick up a tracer mod.
I just got my first gun, a classic army AUG A2, but I have no idea if it's compatible?? All I can tell is the outside of the barrel is threaded so looks like it can take mods, if only I can get the flash eliminator off...
Anyone mounted a Tokyo Mauri tracer on a CA gun or are there other companies making tracer mods??
It seems to be hard to get info on what will work with what!

To take the flashhider off unscrew the grubscrew on the under side of the flashhider then twist the flashider off. Tokyo mauri make a tracer unit it looks like a silencer and screws onto your muzzle.

Can you not just get tracer mags?

They cost around 18 for one 100rd mag. And they dont do them for steyrs.

tracer mag is easier, also i dont think tm are making the tracer unit any more...or so i heard...

the problem with the mag is any bb's that have left the mag and loose the effect so you always have a few bb at the start of a burst that are not fully 'lit' as they reside outside the mag...thats where the TM silencer was better as it lit them as they left the barrel. if you wanted to take the pain of loading a mag manually, you could put the 1 on 5 ratio for a real real effect...

firing at night is hilarious with them tho...well worth it for halloween as well...

my hope is for an winter evening at hrta and 10 or 20 of us using them....would be friggen hilarious...and you can get green and orange colours

as an aside...you could also make them yourself...all it is is a blacklight led shining the bb.s. take an old mag drill a hope near the top, put the black light in, wired to a battery outside, tape it up and bingo...

remember yo need the special bb's as well and they aint as cheap as normal bb's..

is their any effect at all in the late evening before it gets pitch black outside?

obviously the darker the better, but once late evening hits with no sun that would work and obviously no sun is a distinct probability here.

the next time i am out i will bring the mag and some round and you can blast away, assuming you have an m4 that is...

the mag is quite smart because the light only goes on when you lock it in place and it takes 2 aa batteries (from memory -- could be 1). i got mine a long time ago and the same batteries are still in it.

apparently it works better if you get the bb's in the sun or under a bright light for a few hours as that is supossed to speed up the reaction..

a full mag on auto with green and a 9.6 battery...think green laser!!!

i would not recommend firing indoors tho...our kitchen looked like the creature from the black lagoon had crapped nuclear fuel everywhere...

the TM tracer unit doesnt always screw onto the barrel. i'v had it on a CA M4 and it goes over the flash hider. the tracer is only about 4inches long and then you put a plastic clip onto the end that clamps either side of the flash hider. then you put a steel tube over the whole lot to make it look like a silencer. the box comes with all the bts co put the tracer on a whole range of guns. the only ones that screw on are the pistol attachments. and at that you need a threaded barrel

Sounds good falls, Might try and make a drum mag version sometime.

pfft I find that rather insulting :p

sorry dude LOL, so many dodgy types here with no class...obvious now that your mother brought you up proper!!! LOL

the other possibility is to take a silencer and wire a uv led light into that...just make sure its not impeding your barrel obviously, all you need is a uv led light (or blacklight as its called sometimes), most of the new ones comes with the resistor already attached and a 9v battery hidden in a peq box or inside the handle...would be quite neat and hidden and easier then doing it to a mag also...

just make sure the uv light doesnt seep out or else those newly washed bdu will shine like a christmas tree...

Hmm, I see cool, I'm still not sure if this tracer mod will work on my aug, and as said above I think it's impossible to get tracer mags for the steyr. Maybe I'll try to make my own tracer adjustment, could be fun, failing that I'll try the tracer mod.
