Just off the top of my head , would you consider being a holiday rep abroad ? Alll the holiday resorts employ them ,but you would obiously have to go on a training course which might take up a bit of your year .Have a look here ,cheers .....

Out of curiosity, how did you fail 1st year in September?

Anyway, as latchyco points out, you can get fun jobs anywhere, you just have to keep an eye out for new and interesting stuff. You never know what you might find, and you'll have a great time.

Some of my mates took a year out and went volunteering abroad, there's lots of organisations that organise this (eg i-to-i), don't know what the story is with money though, if you need to work to save up for college might not be the best idea though, as AFAIK they cover your board and expenses, but obviously it's volunteerism so no pay - would look good on your CV though if you could get work related to your field of study (eg if it's science, get working on helping build a water supply etc).

if he attended last year and repeated exams in late augugt then he would only be learning now of having to actually do the reapting thing. And its costly - so leave him alone.

Whatever you decide to do OP try considering why you failed: were you happy in the course? Something must have been up... I recommend getting to the bottom of it over the course of your year out.

well as its coming in to the winter months, you could become a skiing instructor (even if u havent done it before, think some companies take on people and train the up and use them that way) and then when that slows down, for the summer get a job in a pub abroad, somewhere like cyprus or something, somehwere warm. Think thats what i would do! be a great expierance

you'll need to do a bit of fund-raising in advance but you'll get a lot out of it...
