Please forgive the Windows terminology but I am new to Mac. I want to find and delete temporary internet files and cookies. In Windows it is straightforward when using Explorer ie Tools>Internet Options>Delete Files, Delete Cookies(in Temporary Internet Files Box). How do I do this in Safari/Mac OS?

    Welcome to Mac's, Joe :D

Up to your screen top, click on the word SAFARI; when your menu scrolls down, simply click on EMPTY CACHE and it should sort you out. Cookies are removed in Preferences; again when the menu scrolls down, click preferences and go into Security; click Show Cookies and you can clear them here. You may also change cookie settings here if you so wish.

How do you find Safari compared to IE, as an aside?

Thanks, it's easy when you know how! Difficult to compare because I haven't spent enough time on Safari yet. It's obviously much faster but some of that is machine related as I went for a 2.8 with 4G. First impressions are that it is much more user freindly. My son has had a Macbook Pro since last Christmas and he swears by Firefox. I read somewhere in the last few months that the new Safari is as fast as Firefox.
Any views on Safari vs Firefox

I prefer Firefox over Safari - the number of extensions available for Firefox is fantastic. Extensions basically improve on areas of Firefox or add in functionality that's absent. It's always handy to have more than one browser installed, so give Firefox a go and see which you prefer.

The brainwashing didn't work, I've given up on Camino (grr won't render sites properly nor handle embedded youTube)

Thanks Mr D'Arcy, That is a question i always meant to ask ( but kept forgetting). I deleted cookies once ( maybe twice before), but it was a pure accident how i found out. I think i was poking around the computer one day. But i forget how i did it, plus i was not sure if i had done it right and so it is good to hear i did it correctly.

8 Messages it took for the camino brain washing to start.

Anyway Joe i have firefox and safari loaded onto my mac, but i use safari now. It is good to have two loaded. Safari is very good right now, but i am 100% certain that in the next year firefox will up their game again and i will move to firefox when that happens. For sure i will be flipping from safrai to firefox and then firefox to safari for the next few years. But i really love safari now.

How do you turn off autocomplete in both camino and safari? I don't know why but it drives me absolutely mad. Especially in the URL bar. I don't know how I do it but I always manage to press enter at just the point where it will suggest a different site than the one I'm typing... Grr...

In Camino, type 'about:config' in the URL bar (without the quotes). In the 'Filter' field, type the first few letters of 'autocomplete'. A value will come up called 'browser.urlbar.autocomplete.enabled' which will be set to true. Double click it to set it to false and restart Camino.

Safari... I dunno, I'll find out if someone doesn't get there before me!
