Hi. I am interested in a career as Career Guidance Teacher in secondary level schools. Can you tell me the best route to become a Career Guidance Teacher? Do you have to do a Hdip or can you get into via another route?

    Hi

I've just started looking into a career change (from IT which I've done for 11 years) to career guidance.

There are a number of courses both full & part-time but it isn't easy to get detailed info on them (on the net at least)

The page which provides the most info on the detail of the course and whats involved is from the Institute of Guidance Counsellors in Cork
    http://www.corkigc.com/
Go to Memberships->How to become a guidance counsellor

If you have any other info on guidance counselling I'd appreciate it if you could pass it on
Also do you know anyone who currently does this as a job ?
I'd be very interested to hear what their experience of the job is

    Cheers
