Sigma 70-300 Lens. Where to buy?

Looking to get a Sigma 70-300 APO for my Canon "Digital Rebel".
They're selling on Ebay for about 150 including shipping.
Any Irish places I could pick one up? Online or bricks & mortar?

Gunnes on Wexford St. in Dublin if I'm ever buying anything. Family run shop. Really nice and friendly. Ask anyone and they'd agree. I've been buying from them for years.
Make sure the 70-300 APO is the newer one when buying (its got a RED ring at the end as opposed to the older lens that has a GOLD ring). The newer one is capable of shooting macro and is supposed to be sharper. They pretty much go for about €199 here in Ireland new.

The last time I asked Gunns didn't do Sigma lenses, though that may have changed in the meantime. I got mine in the Dublin Camera Exchange on for about the same price IIRC.

Dublin Camera Exchange seems to be selling them for 219. Big difference between 150 - 219 unfortunately.

Conns do them I bought mine there earlier this year. They are on Clarendon Street a couple of doors down from Aya.

I bought mine about a year ago, and I'm pretty sure it was sub €200 then ... inflation, eh?

As for the lens, it's great value for the price but can be a bit soft at longer focal lengths and the autofocus can be a bit slow and hunt too. The macro facility is OK, but the minimum focus distance is quite large making it less useful IMO.

I used that lens most of last year (I got it from Conns for 199 but I think that the camera shop in Blanch Centre had it for around the same). I like it a lot - I used it mainly for sports photography and cannot argue about how sharp it is.

Euro for euro it is the best value lens in my bag.

Thanks for the help lads. You've really made my mind up for me. I feel a lot more confident buying it now. Might drop a few of them an email see if they could give me a "good price"

there was a guy on here a while ago from Pixels who said he'd give a tenner off in his South Anne St. shop if you mentioned boards.ie. TBH 200 quid is the lowest you'll get this lens in any shop in Ireland
