I am looking to share files on my PC in work to a remote laptop over the internet so they can see a shared directory and add/edit/remove files from the directory.

They are both running Windows XP and have broadband connections.

What is the best/simplist way to go about this?

Since it's a work laptop you might want to see what business VPN solutions they have been looking at.

If you were home user looking to do this I'd recommend Hamachi. It can create a VPN secure network over the internet between computers with the software installed and who are members of the same password protected group.
