Don't know if anyone saw this. I'm working in the states at the moment for a few weeks and this was on the breakfast news...

This coach is great. Mike Gundy of Oklahoma State. The best defense of a player I have ever seen...

The press wrote some article about the quarter-back... He didn't like it :-)

I heard that on PTI & ATH the other day... As they said on ATH, well done for leaping to his player's defence, but he was a bit of a lunatic in his delivery of the message...

Great video though... :D Was the journalist at that press conference? Cos he kept looking to his left the whole time as if he was talking to one person...

I don't get him. The kid shouldn't be criticised for playing poorly because he goes to class and doesn't get arrested? Come on. While the NCAA treatment of college athletes is extremely debatable, the issue of whether a player should not be criticised for playing poorly is rubbish. The guy is nearly 22, he's nearly the same age as Alex Smith in San Fran. He should be able to take a few jibes. The coach is on the hot seat cos his team is playing badly, I think that was the main reason for the rant.

Just watched the entire thing. Emotional. And fair play to him too.

Saw that whole thing live while over in the US and also read the article I can understand why Mike Gundy did what he did. That article is nothing but a personal attack on Reid. Like the start of it the reporter writes he mom fed him chicken whats that got to do with anything. Gundy was pissed the fact the article was written on hear say its true Reid has had issues at Oklahoma but obviously his coaches know they can work on them. That article went above and beyond the call of normal criticism.

The whole attack seems to be based around the fact Reid was fed chicken by his mother in the parking lot after the game. This chick of a reporter has issues in my opinion. She obviously has some sort of fictional based personal problem with Reid and doesnt like him so she lets us all know by writing an article.

In my opinion he still is a good QB so fair play to Gundy for defending Reid and his team there is no need for that type of article helps no one at all.

Yeah the article was a bit of a ranty personal attack on the guy... I can see now why the coach was fuming!

I don't know about that. I thought the article was pretty harmless. This got a lot of coverage over here. These are top college players. If I was the player I think I'd be a little embarrassed that the coach was defending me like that. Just my opinion but I think maybe the coach didn't like her second-guessing why they dropped him and once the blood was up he couldn't stop himself. I thought he was OTT - but it was a good rant. Maybe he's been watching too many football movies or Friday Night Lights and he was thinking about his legacy:)

    College football is nuts though!

Exactly. If professional the personal attack maybe slightly warranted. But at the end of it she attacked his personal life aswell as his abilities on the field which is not on for guys who are amateur and make no money being in college. Some actually have to work in campus jobs to keep them going as they are there on scholarships. If she attacked his football and football only you would say ok fair dues but to talk about him almost calling him a mummys boy is fooking wrong.
