Which teams out of UK and Ireland will make it?

A key weekend is coming up for Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales. Just wondering what peoples opinion is on which, if any of the teams make it to the quarters. Any of the UK and Ireland teams that lose is out of the WC.

    A reminder of the fixtures:

    Ireland v Argentina:
    England v Tonga:
    Scotland v Italy
    Wales v Fiji

My predictions; Scotland and Wales to make it. Ireland and England to be catching the plane home this weekend. Thoughts?

England will get there with a good few points to spare in the end, assuming JW is on the pitch. Tonga have done extremely well so far but I think the will find little left in the tank in the last 20 minutes at the weekend. I wouldn't write off Scotland chances of coming home early just yet but they should be just two strong for Italy. Wales to win reasonably comfortably in the end and Ireland to head home early.

Well we know the story with Ireland. Very tall order if not impossible.

Wales should beat Fiji although its not a foregone conclusion. Scotland will beat Italy I think as they've been very ordinary so far. England will qualify as well.

It'd be fairly frustrating now if we were the only home nation who failed to get through considering we've beaten all these teams in the last 2 six nations.

Surely the title of this thread is an Oxymoron? "Which teams out of UK and Ireland will make it"? = Oxymoron (contradiction in terms).

Now that Wales have gone due to a brilliant Fiji, Ireland England & Scotland are really up against it ...............

I wouldnt bet anything on this World Cup specially after the way Wales (dead cert to win) were knocked-out today!

I am tempted to write-off England v the Aussies, I am also tempted to write off Ireland V the Argies & as for Scotland ?

Lets hope all three Home Nations get through to the next round.

No. The title would be what's known in grammatical circles as a question.

Looks like only England will make it to the knock out stages...

Support for the boks is support for apartheid.

Only kidding... before someone bans me. But that programme on C4 on Friday makes you wonder.

"UK and Ireland Rugby Teams" = Oxymoron = (Contradiction in terms) seeing as you cannot apply 'that' political term to the Home Nation Rugby teams = (Northern Ireland is part of the UK) ergo (UK & Republic of Ireland teams)? = NO, that wont do either because our team is an all island Ireland team containing part of the UK Rugby fraternity!

HOME NATIONS SOUNDS BETTER > and we all know what it means.

I wasn't intending to whip up a political debate. Now that you mention it though, I refuse to use the words HOME NATIONS, but lets not go there or we'll get the wrath of the mods. The North Atlantic Archipelago of Islands is an acceptable term for UK and Irl but it is a bit of a mouthful, plus i would sound like a complete w**ker if I worded it like that. :)

Oh yeah, looks like England and Scots from the Archipelago teams are going to make it. Jeez I am a complete w**ker. :D

Great Britain and Ireland rugby teams would work. But I don't see what's wrong with "Home Nations". Mixing politics with sport ruins it.

I agree with you 100% JC 2K3, thats the point I was trying to make.

Which leaves Scotland & England, & sadly it looks bleak for both of them! Unless the Argies & Aussies get food poisioning (mild) of course
