www.7dayshop.com - great prices and reliable - have a look at their fast charger - comes with car adaptor and works worldwide if you need it!

Have to agree with 7 day shop being the best value for rechargeables and chargers.

You could also try ledshoppe, I have bought a few pieces off them but not batteries. Free shipping on all items too

Right cheers the quick replys. The question now is which one should I get. I want batterys that are around 3000mah.

Is the postage £3.95 to Ireland aswell? It does not say that clearly on the site.

I think the largest capacity I've seen for AA on 7dayshop.com is 2800mAh - have a good few of these myself - working without problems - good capacity for digital camera, etc.

Yes, the P&P fee is for the whole order - (they will break it up into different packages, if necessary, to stay under the £18 VAT limit from the Channel Islands).

How long does it usually take to recharge batterys?

Spend a little more and get a recharger that (a) charges each battery individually, (b) has "smart charging" (i.e. charges only until full, rather than for a preset time) and (c) has a slow charge option. Fast charges are ok once in a while but repeated fast charging will destroy NiMH rechargeables.

I wonder though if those ultra fast chargers are bad for the batteries.

Mine were done in 15mins on a work charger this morning. I was expecting maybe 4hrs.

    Hi TJM,
Can you recommend a charger & batteries?

I'm not putting my batteries into a fast charger like that again.

I bought a few bits and bobs from them and it was all refurbished. Multi-card reader was badly scratched and held together with glue, misaligned so I couldn't insert a CF card, but other cards seemed to work. USB 'LED keyboard illuminator' was a refurb, its USB plug was absolutely manky. A LED mini torch was scratched and gouged.

Maybe I was just unlucky - haven't heard anything bad about them other than my experience...

They're good about giving money back though when I complained...

I've got the Energizer fast charger and it's great. I've never heard of them damaging batteries.

I used plenty of different slow ones and they've just killed batteries.

The energizer one has over charge protection; a cooling fan; and batteries are charged individually.

It won't charge batteries which have already been damaged by poor charging.

My experience of Ledshoppe is you get what you pay for. The batteries are cheap and last the same length. I got rechargeable AAA batteries from them, which won't charge in the above mentioned charger - which suggests to me that they're rejects. The torches are ok. Some are a bit flimsy - but at that price what do you want?! Buy 2 of them. Think of them as an online €uro stores and you'll get the idea.

Maha brand chargers get very good recommendations. I don't know that the choice of battery is that critical - for me the noname NiMHs seem to work just as well as the name brands. The only issue with the NiMHs is that they self discharge quite quickly. Some of the brand name ones (Sanyo Eneloops in particular) avoid this.
