    hypothically:

a non-EU (say a Canadian or American) is entering the country to return to college, but has no/an expired card/visa (so must renew with his/her college's local gardai within 90 days)

    My question is:

    - what kind of card will be given?
    - will that card allow them to work or only attend school?
    - if they are allowed to work, can they benefit from their PRSI?
    - if they are not allowed to work but attend work anyway, what is the repurcussion?

EDIT: also if you are given a card that does not allow you to work is there any way around this, such as an appeal, etc.?
