Anyone know of any good deals on tumble dryers? There was smoke coming out of the one I have so it's knackered

Baize House in Glasnevin is usually my first port of call for white goods.

They sell shop soiled and damaged goods at a discount, with full guarantees. Damage in most cases is very slight.

I've heard about those guys Baize House, seen them advertising. Very cheap prices, good to hear a positive report on them. I think they're in Glasnevin Industrial Estate, if the prices I've seen are still available there's good deals to be had. Between there and PowerCity down the road in Finglas, I'd say you've the pick of the best deals.

i'd get a condenser if i were you, my brother has one and it's far superior to any vented one i've ever used, clothes don't shrink and come out requiring minimal ironing.

i would recommend a condenser dryer

    Thanks for all the replies.

Just a question about condenser versions, do you have to empty water out of them?

I've a vague memory of my mother doing that and I also thought it created condensation in her utility room.

I normally get the clothes out of the tumble dryer within a few mins of the cycle finishing and I just fold them and I only iron about once or twice a year.:D

Shirts are not worn too often in my household

My current dryer was a Creda that had 2 heat settings and a 10 mins cool spin that I've had for years and never gave any trouble until I saw the smoke yesterday. Most of our clothes are tumble dried, I don't have a clothes line and it eliminates the need for ironing ;)

My local D.I.D. is due to open shortly but I see that I can order online and they'll deliver nationwide for €25 anyway so thanks for that link.

yeah they have a resevoir that needs to be emptied after a big load. but as another poster said condenser dryers leave you're clothes in a better condition than vented dryers, i have a dryer very similar to the zanussi above, and i dont have to iron the clothes when they come out so i would really reccommend a condenser

This link might be of some guidance.

I'd agree with most of the comments in that link above

Condenser dryers are great for the extra heating in the Winter...

Thanks for all your help. I bought an Indesit vented dryer this morning for €209.

I chose the vented version as I've got the vent in the wall already. My mother and a couple of my sisters have condenser versions and they all reckon the conderser dryers take longer, some steam escapes into the room and are noisier.

I phoned a couple of local electrical appliance shops on Wednesday and the sales woman I spoke to in one of the shops suggested I wait until today as they're having a weekend sale so I saved €10. She advised getting the vented one as I've already got the vent in place. She also mentioned that they're quieter.

Thanks again, I've a weekend of laundry ahead of me. ;)
