So I'm playing poker low limit, and I sit down at 2 10/20 cent tables with about 15 bucks at each table. 6 handed.

So I lose all of it within 10 minutes. I'm just wondering could any poker player have gotten away from my hands without going bust.

First table I lose in my stack - I limp in under the gun with 2-2. 2 other limpers. Small blind folds. Big blind Checks.
Flop was 2-4-10. I bet pot, everyone folds to BB, he raises. I reraise. He's all in. I call. He wins with 4-4.

Second table I'm under the gun with Q-Q and raise 4 times the BB. One caller on the button. Flop comes down 8-7-2. I bet pot, guy raises enough to commit me if call so I move all in. He had K-K.

Were these two situations where everyone has to lose money?

Hand 1: yes, any player in any situation. Maybe limping in UTG with 2-2 is a bit iffy but when you lose set over set there's almost nothing you can do.

Hand 2: At those stakes, you could be up against anything and a lot of the time you'll see TT or even A8. You were just unlucky.

Yes, except I lose more cos I would have bought in for the max

First hand I would just call the raise. Certainly unlucky there

Second hand , hard to walk away , for a fiver I would call but for €15 in low limits (I play this myself ) I lay it down.

They're just cold decks, it's part of the game. Don't get downhearted.

There's a thread on here called the bad beat section. This is where your hands belong. Have a read through it and you'll see that everyone that posts on here will have some posts in there similar to your 2 above.

Maybe limping UTG with 22 isnt a great idea but otherwise you played both hands well and theyre just coolers. Pretty soon, u'll be the guy with the 44 and KK and its you thats doubling up. Variance usually balances out.

    Good luck...oh and buyin for $20 ;)

    :D

OP: As has been said above, it's just variance. Happens everyone, just make sure to manage your bankroll well enough to have a safety cushion when you run bad and don't hesitate to move down.
20 buyins is a minimum, drop down if you drop under 16.

Just wondering the "villian" is always the guy you're up against in the pot.
Just never heard that one before. Where did "villian" come from?
