MCE Remote - how many devices?

Hi folks - I've read that the MCE remote can learn commands to control other devices.

How many other devices can it assume control of?
Can it be programmed to run macros (send one IR command after another) i.e. a one touch type of system?
If other systems are controlled by IR e.g. automated lighting, can the MCE remote learn these commands or are there limitations?

Is it better to look at some fancy programmable touch screens to accomplish the above?
I know there are touch screens available that can be programmed and even skinned. These sound good but expensive I'm sure.
They would ideally take over the functions of the MCE remote whilst doing all the other automated stuff.

If anyone has any info or thoughts on this I'd be greatful to hear back.

for what you need, best go a fancy remote and program all the functions you need including the MCE buttons.

The MCE remote has a pass-through for volume control, and to turn on and off your TV. That's it. You may be thinking of some of the Media Center home-automation implementations.

Like SouperComputer suggested, sounds like you need a Kameleon or something similar.

garethmc - those remotes do look mighty fine..

I'd spend more time looking at that screen than at the Tv i think. They'd be worth the investment easy.
