Insurance Arggghhh!!!

Ok, I'm looking to start up my own club. I've been googling for hours and can't find anything on it. This board came up a few times and there names suggested. I went to I.M.A.C. and there email is crap as it's i.m.a.c.@aol.ie which is not an email address at all. So that's a no go. Then I tried ringing Pauline Smith on the Number the Colm O'Reilly (mod) left and that isn't being picked up.

Now I'm at my wits end because I know there is only one place in Ireland that covers Martial Arts insurance and nobody will tell the name of it. It's just one big giant secret. Can someone please just give me a web address, phone number, email address a contact or an actual physical address please. I'm about to blow a vein in my head with this.

I have a premisis, instructors lined up (including myself), a budget, a plan and all that, but I can't open up the club without insurance, as 1) It's illegal to do so, and 2) I can't possible work out the rest of the budget profit/loss chart without the actual physical price; and 3) I can't work out how much it will be per class, how much club insurance will be, membership for the club, materials for teaching the class budget thing (like punch bags, pads, mits, uniforms, crests, badges, mats et al things I need to complete my budget plan).

Please someone please just help with this. It's doing my brain in.

    Thanks in advance,
    Hank.

P.s. When I do open my club it will be open to all that have an open mind, heart and arms. I hope to incorporate Katas, Freestyle Points Sparring, Continuous Sparring, Kickboxing and Street Defence.

I don't want to talk about any of these methods of martial arts or compare one to another, I just want INSURANCE.

    Thanks,
    Hank

Try the search function. I tried 'martail arts insurance' and it returned two threads that looked relevant. I cant post the links because searched items on this site wont open for me in work for some reason.

Of all the googling I did I didn't think of to search the actual forums. Duh.

Ok thanks for that, I've got a few links here. I'm not being bad or anything or want to encourage advertisement but perhaps a sticky on the subject of Insurance would be helpful. Probably not doable though.

Thanks for your help, I'll read these now and try to get some answers. Thanks again.

    Hank.

I was discussing the need for insurance with a friend of mine last night. Is insurance really necessary if you are renting a hall. Surely it is covered in the cost of ther hall. The hall should already be insured by the owners, otherwise they cant run events there??

I'm not too sure of the in's and the out's of it. But if it's a sports hall you could ask them if their insurance covers it. But as far as I know Martial Arts requires a separate insurance cover.

But what if it's just a school hall? What if it's a community hall? What if it's a private premisis. Would public liability insurance cover? A package deal with VHI or BUPA?

I'm almost certain you need insurance that specifies Martial Arts to cover you.

The hall will have public liability, but you will want your own personal cover. I can't recommend any particular insurance company, I use the AMA - http://www.amauk.co.uk/html/insurance.htm

Buy a copy of Irish fighter. There's an ad/application form for Amateur Martial Arts insurance.
