Play backed up games on my 360?

If this isn't the place for this let me know ;) Just wondering exactly what I have to do to be able to play backed up games on my 360? I know I have to modify the firmware of the drive. But, I was also wondering what do I have to do so that I can play these games on Live?

From what I can gather, playing backed up games on Live would be a risky business and is likely to cause your X360 to be banned from the Live service.
