Postgrad part-timers - forgotten about?

I'm starting a part time post-grad tonight (classes Tuesday and Wednesday evenings) and I'm feeling a little bit like postgrad part timers are being forgotten about or sidelined. There doesn't seem to be any programme of orientation or information on the college resources like there is for the day students? I collected my ID card yesterday night, and I've to turn up for classes tonight. The timetable on my portal page is for the wrong course, and I'm not even sure where the room I'm supposed to be in tonight is!

No offence to the day students, but if anything I think the part-timers need orientation information more, as we don't have time to wander about the campus during the day finding out things for ourselves.

Maybe I'm all wrong about this and I'll find this evening that this week's evening classes are actually replaced by orientation? I haven't seen anything to indicate this yet.

Now that my wee rant's over - can anyone describe to me how to get to room "C166"? :D

EDIT: Also, I'm meant to be doing course GDF1-P (the P indicating part time). When I was registering online it was displaying the subjects and modules for the full time GDF1 course and when I emailed them about it they said not to worry, I was down as being on the part time one. Now though my Portal Page brings me to the full time timetable, and I just noticed my ID card says "GDF1" and not "GDF1P". Who should I contact about all this?

C166 is on the first floor of the Henry Grattan building. That´s the building with the big glass front behind the Helix. There are a load of couches and an AIB in the lobby area as soon as you walk in.

Re: your other problems, registry is the place for you. That´s probably where you picked up your ID from so ring them or send them an email.

I'm starting this course tonight, and collected my Student Card last night too, which also says GDF1 on it even though I'm doing the Part-time version of the course.

I think the 'P' part may only come in when checking for the timetables online? Also, the library system will know that you're a part-timer since part-timers can borrow books for longer periods from the part-time collection. Or so I think... hmm.

I've just finished a part time MA, possibly similar to yours as we practically lived in that awful C166.

You are right though. If you're a post-grad, especially a part timer, DCU are happy to take your money, and not give much in exchange. My best advice is to make sure your class appoints a class rep to the Union asap. We only did it in the 2nd year and it was too late.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!
